The Center for EU Studies, Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), is an academic research institution of think tank style, professionalized in the regional and international studies related to EU and its member states. Amongst the first group of regional studies institutions approved and supported by the Department of International Cooperation & Exchanges, the Ministry of Education of China, this center is chaired by Professor CAO Deming, the President of SISU. Its major research fields include: cultural oriented studies on EU and its member states, studies on the relations between EU and major international organizations, and European think tank studies. Its most recent achievements of academic research include: EU Studies from the Cultural Perspective (2009), EU Member State Studies from the Cultural Perspective: Germany (2010), EU Member State Studies from the Cultural Perspective: France (2011), Five EU Member States: Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, and Holland (to be Published in 2012). Endowed with a rare advantage of multi-lingual research capacity by a diversity of foreign language departments & faculties inside SISU (such as the English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Greek, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, and Hungarian faculties), this center is now devoting its advanced expertise to the cross-lingual and cross-disciplinary research work covering arts, law, economics, finance, management, political science, and international studies, with a special focus on the issues concerning EU and its member states. Now it has a faculty of 20 members, including full-time and part-time researchers and professors.
